Rio Blanco Cascade

I took advantage of a clear, warm day to hike two miles on a narrow trail through thick vegetation to a small, shaded stream-sided beach on the South Fork of the Rio Blanco. Here the rock canyon funneled a heavy stream flow into this narrow section, just before the grade of the river dropped precipitously in a half-mile long cascade. It was deliciously cool and secluded until the afternoon sun and a group of fishermen reclaimed the spot.
